Concept FT-86 Best Lap/Track Timer Gadget?

So I noticed the Track timer to the right of the steering wheel on the Studio images of the FT-86. IMO its a big waste of space, but here is hoping they support these cars being tossed around and abused on the track while maintaining the factory warranty

Will Toyota provide us with the software to lap and map our local track onto its system so we can run laps on it and compare times?

If that were the case would would already see the effect from the 240sx, which is more affordable to the younger driver. I havent seen any such stat regarding that statistic. Boys will be boys and kill themselves in any car, RWD/FWD/AWD.

Same goes for the cobalt, mustangs, older WRX's. Fast cars are getting cheap, people will die. Cold hard, sad fact of life.

A sports car will be made like a sports car...what would it be otherwise !!

I have a Honda CBR but never i i have driven it rashly or at break neck speeds.

IMHO its you who needs to respect the machine and drive responsibly.

But having a iphone app is simply ridiculous. I think apple should ban it from their istore....

A lap timer for tracks won't hurt anyone. If it is for the track, how would it hurt people? If you tried to time something else, it would be no different than having a descent watch or a stop watch or phone with that feature. It would be a cool feature to show people, but not that worthwhile anyhow.

This software/hardware ready exists for lap timing and there is an iPhone app but only for 1/4 mile times (gtech) and estimated hp (dynolicious ). I'm not aware of any iPhone app for track times but I am willing to bet it wouldn't be very accurate because these phones don't map from satellite like gps they triangulate from cell towers.

Regardless, I can't fathom this coming stock especially given the low cost low weight goals of this car.

Yeah ban it! Ban anything that may make want you to drive fast, like manual transmissions and high output engines and and sport suspension and...oh, wait. Never mind.

I am not against speeding but against driving like a maniac. As per a report using cellphone while driving increases the chance of an accident by almost 100%.

The point i am trying to make is not to encourage things like these. If you want to speed , go to a racing track and NOT on the roads.
