What capacity will the Ft-86 be?
Are we all taking as read that this will be 2000cc from an EJ20 derived engine? Personally, if its NA and a motor from Subaru, I would like to see the 2.5 litre EJ25 in the hole up front. This would grunt along nicely in a car weighing 1000 - 1100kg. There is an engine class capacity limit of 2500cc in one of the more popular forms of motor-sport in this country, and it would be good to be 'right on the limit' rather than battling with a 2000cc car up against 2500cc machines...and yet now that I think about it further, GT5 seems to indicate that the engine is a 2 litre...

I agree with you. I would want a 2.5 liter over a 2.0. How torquey are Subaru's?

Based on what I have heard it will be 2.0l with about 240-250hp. Meaning it won't be ideal for custom turbo setups. High compression turbo setups are fun

I would like to think this would be more 2.5L than 2.0L, only because of the 'progression' of power to weight ratio's that this model will flow along from. While the AE86 was approx. 900kg with a 1.6L motor, and a few Celica models were about 1000kg with a 2L motor, if the FT-86 is going to (have to) weigh about 1100kg then the motor should be 2.5L capacity.

I agree that it will be a 2.0 turbo, but I would want a 2.5.

That seems a pretty common sentiment amongst NA Subie owners, the 2.0l is OK, but the 2.5l is much better. Hence the reason why I started this little thread... :-)

- 2.5L boxers provide much more tq, especially w/ FI
- 2.0L N/A will have high compression internals setup, but since it's 2.0L there are aftermarket parts for the 2.0L 'turbos' still out there. However, there are more for the 2.5L parts too. It would be nice to just get a 2.5L turbo option but a 2.0L is good too. What if ~ Not 2.5L but...a little amusement. Magic sound, just magic. Now, I would assume the mechanical losses through a 4WD drivetrain would be higher than 2WD, but does these number roughly translate to 450bhp and 380 ft-lbs at the flywheel? This is 530Nm of torque? Wowsers! (Thanks to Inspector Gadget!)
