I know of many awesome Hybrid cars that I would buy, if I were filthy rich with 100k+ to burn in my pocket. However I wouldn't touch an FT-86 Hybrid with a 10 ft stick.
Watch Toyota make the "Baby FT86" an hybrid with 1.6l and gobs of unwanted weight. At that point, the FT86 car as it original came into the world would be dead on arrival. Well, the Baby would.
